Kyrgyzstan is pursuing “Blue Flag” certification for its popular Issyk-Kul Lake, an internationally recognized symbol of high-quality water and tourism facilities. A Kyrgyz delegation recently visited Antalya, Turkey, to observe best practices in maintaining clean water and superior infrastructure at Turkish resorts. The visit, reported by Türkiye Turizm, aimed to understand the processes involved in achieving and sustaining the “Blue Flag” standard. This initiative signals Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to enhancing tourism and environmental quality at Issyk-Kul. Representatives from tourism associations and local government officials participated in the fact-finding mission. The “Blue Flag” program assesses various criteria, including water quality, environmental management, safety, and services. Successful implementation could attract more international tourists and boost the local economy.
