Taiwan’s Kuomintang (KMT) has finally approved a long-delayed budget, ending a 266-day stalemate. The approved budget totals 2.9869 trillion NT, including 44.2 billion NT allocated for drone funding over six years. Additionally, 19.2 billion NT will be used for procurement by Executive Yuan agencies. The approval follows a shift in the KMT’s position, as evidenced by the passage of a referendum concerning caning. This budget passage signifies a resolution to significant political gridlock and enables funding for key government initiatives, including drone technology investment. The move allows for the progression of various programs put on hold during the extensive budget review process.
