Hundreds of mourners and loyal subjects of the Tooro Kingdom gathered along the Fort Portal-Kampala Highway on Thursday to pay their respects as the body of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV was transported to Fort Portal for burial. The late monarch passed away last week in Dallas, prompting a national outpouring of grief. Despite the scorching sunshine, citizens lined the roads to offer their final farewells to the revered king. The procession marked a significant moment of national mourning for the Tooro Kingdom. Preparations are now underway for the burial ceremony in Fort Portal, which is expected to draw dignitaries and mourners from across Uganda and beyond. The king’s death leaves a notable void in the cultural landscape of Uganda.
