A recent report indicates a high incidence of road traffic accidents in the Kigezi region of Uganda. During the 2025/2026 financial year, a total of 5,298 cases were recorded. Motorcycles are being blamed for a significant 60% of these crashes. Data presented by Henry Kunya, an epidemiologist at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, revealed that adult males are the most frequently affected demographic in these incidents. The findings were shared during a recent regional health update. Authorities are now focusing on addressing the factors contributing to motorcycle-related accidents in Kigezi. Further investigation is needed to fully understand the causes and implement effective preventative measures.
