Kiambu County has achieved a record Sh6.5 billion in own-source revenue for the 2025/2026 financial year, marking its highest collection since the start of devolution. Governor Kimani Wamatangi announced the milestone, attributing the success to the implementation of digitised revenue collection systems and improvements in financial management. These reforms, initiated in 2022, have demonstrably increased efficiency in revenue gathering. The increase signifies a positive trend for the county's financial stability and its ability to fund local development projects. This achievement showcases the potential of technology to boost revenue streams in Kenyan counties. Wamatangi highlighted that the surplus in collections enables greater investment in critical public services within Kiambu.
