Rice farmers within the Mwea Irrigation Scheme are appealing to the Kenyan government for the swift release of Sh210 million in outstanding payments. The funds are owed for 25,760 bags of rice previously supplied to the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC). The Mwea Rice Growers Multipurpose Co-operative Society (MRGM) represents the farmers, who state the payment delays are jeopardizing their financial stability.
