A court in Lamu, Kenya, has granted police a seven-day detention order for three male suspects. The decision, issued by Lamu Principal Magistrate Peter Wasike, allows investigators to further question the men regarding their alleged involvement in facilitating the travel of 55 individuals from Lamu East Sub-County into Somalia. Authorities believe these individuals crossed the border with the intention of joining the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization. The application for the detention order was made by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). This development signals an ongoing effort to counter recruitment activities linked to the extremist group in the Lamu region. The investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the network and prevent further individuals from joining Al-Shabaab in Somalia.
