Over 1,000 cotton farmers in Yatta Sub-County, Machakos County, Kenya, are benefiting from a government initiative providing pesticides and spraying equipment. The program, implemented through the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA), aims to enhance crop resilience in the region’s semi-arid climate. Farmers in Ndalani and surrounding areas – including Kisiiki and Kiwanzani – are receiving the support. This intervention is designed to increase cotton production by protecting crops from damaging pests. The initiative reflects a broader effort to bolster agricultural output and support livelihoods in the face of challenging environmental conditions. Officials anticipate the new equipment and pesticides will significantly improve yields for local farmers.
