The Kenyan government has committed to financially supporting the rejuvenation of the Nyamache and Itumbe tea factories located in Kisii County. Principal Secretary for Agriculture, Dr. Paul Kipronoh Ronoh, announced the support following a request for Sh250 million from the factories. Revitalization efforts will focus on crop improvement, upgrades to processing equipment, and tackling illegal tea hawking which negatively impacts factory revenues. The government aims to boost the factories’ operations and secure their future viability. This intervention signifies a commitment to sustaining the local tea industry and the livelihoods dependent on it. The initiative promises renewed productivity and economic benefit to the region.
