The Kenyan government has provided dairy farmers in Trans Nzoia County with five solar-powered milk coolers, valued at Sh 30 million (approximately $237,000 USD). The initiative, spearheaded by the State Department for Livestock Development, aims to minimize milk spoilage after production and subsequently improve the earnings of local farmers. Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke oversaw the distribution at Biribiriet primary school. These coolers will enable farmers to preserve the quality of their milk, reducing post-harvest losses which have historically impacted profitability. The project directly addresses challenges faced by dairy producers in maintaining a consistent supply chain. This investment is expected to enhance the economic viability of dairy farming within the Cherangany Constituency and beyond.
