Keiko Fujimori will not attend the official ceremony where Peru’s election results are proclaimed by the National Jury of Elections (JNE). Her party, Fuerza Popular, will instead send representatives in her place to the event. The ceremony will take place at the JNE headquarters in Jesús María. It centers around the delivery of credentials to the winning presidential ticket. This delivery is scheduled for July 15th. While the reason for Fujimori’s absence wasn’t detailed, the move signals a continued strategy from her campaign. The JNE is proceeding with the formal recognition of the election’s outcome despite her non-attendance.
