Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have inaugurated a 380-kilometer fiber-optic communication line stretching across the Caspian Sea. This new digital infrastructure is designed to connect Central Asia and China with Europe, bolstering regional telecommunications capabilities. The launch ceremony, held on October 15, was attended by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The project aims to enhance data transmission speeds and reliability between the two nations and beyond. This fiber-optic cable represents a significant step in developing a modern “Digital Silk Road.” The initiative is expected to facilitate increased economic and technological collaboration throughout the region. It further demonstrates a commitment to digital connectivity and modernization in both Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
