A criminal gang operating on the Greek island of Karpathos has been dismantled by authorities after defrauding multiple citizens using a sophisticated scam known as “the accountant” method. Police swiftly investigated five recent cases of fraud reported over the past two days. The gang targeted residents and illicitly obtained cash and valuables of significant worth. Crucially, investigators recovered all stolen money and items before the suspects could flee to Piraeus by boat. The recovered assets have been returned to their rightful owners. The arrests prevent further potential victimization and demonstrate a rapid response to the fraudulent activity on the island.
