Police in Karachi have formed a new team to investigate the death of 25-year-old businessman Mir Raza Ali, adding a murder charge to the initial kidnapping case. Ali’s body was discovered last month after he was reported missing, and his family believes he was kidnapped, tortured, and killed. Previously, police explored the possibility of suicide, but a second postmortem report contradicted the first, prompting a shift in the investigation’s direction. The new team, led by Sindh Deputy IG (Crime and Investigation) Amir Farooqui, will investigate charges of murder and concealing evidence. This team is tasked with a comprehensive review of all evidence, including forensic and circumstantial findings, to determine the circumstances surrounding Ali’s death. The investigation will aim for impartiality and thoroughness, seeking to identify and analyze all relevant information. A report detailing their findings will then be submitted to the court.
