A terrorism case has been registered against the driver of a van that crashed into mourners outside an imambargah in Karachi’s DHA on Sunday evening. The incident occurred during a Muharram majlis, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old girl, Zunaira Akram, and injuries to nineteen others. Police have also named three of the driver’s companions as suspects in the case. The investigation has been transferred to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). According to authorities, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed, breaching security barriers before striking the mourners’ tent. The driver and his companions, who were also injured, are currently in police custody. Security personnel were already deployed at the location as part of planned security measures for the religious observance.
