The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) has adopted an urgent resolution concerning media freedoms in Serbia, submitted by the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS). The resolution addresses concerns regarding deteriorating conditions for journalists within the country. It highlights issues such as political pressure, economic instability affecting media outlets, and instances of violence against reporters. The EFJ’s General Assembly approved the resolution today, signaling international attention to the situation. NUNS initiated the resolution due to increasing worries about the safety and professional independence of journalists in Serbia. The resolution aims to pressure Serbian authorities to improve the environment for media and protect journalistic rights. It calls for concrete steps to ensure media pluralism and end harassment of journalists.
