The bodies of Bangladeshi journalist Debashish Dutta, his wife, child, and father-in-law have been repatriated to Bangladesh following a devastating fire at a residential hotel in Kolkata’s New Market area. The remains arrived via the Benapole-Petrapol border on Saturday evening and were immediately subjected to traditional religious rites, followed by cremation and burial. The Kolkata fire resulted in the deaths of nine individuals in total. Authorities have arrested the owner of the hotel following the incident. The family had been residing in Kolkata at the time of the tragic event. The fire has prompted investigations into hotel safety regulations.
