Italian authorities have arrested eight individuals suspected of involvement in a large-scale cocaine trafficking operation originating in South America. The arrests, carried out across multiple provinces including Rome, L'Aquila, Reggio Calabria, and Catania, follow an investigation launched in August 2025. The criminal organization, rooted in Rome and the northern Lazio coast, had extensive international connections and links to organized crime groups in Calabria and Campania. Investigations revealed a Dominican broker managed international contacts, logistics, and finances, while a Colombian leader oversaw imports and pricing. A Roman broker distributed the cocaine throughout central Italy, and a Calabrian associate supplied vehicles with hidden compartments. Three other individuals are currently under investigation.
