An Israeli intelligence firm, Blackcore, reportedly conducted a cyber operation aimed at discrediting politicians critical of Israel’s actions in Gaza. The operation involved attempts to smear these figures through online activity. Crucially, Blackcore utilized servers belonging to the Finnish company Upcloud to carry out this activity. The purpose was to negatively influence public perception of those voicing criticism of Israeli policy. Upcloud has stated it was unaware of the operation and is cooperating with investigations. This incident raises concerns about the use of foreign infrastructure for politically motivated cyber campaigns and the responsibility of hosting providers. The full extent of the operation and its impact remain under investigation.
