Israel’s Shin Bet security agency filed a complaint against Channel 12 television for reporting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s alleged visit to the UAE, marking the government’s first acknowledgment of the trip without directly confirming the destination. The complaint alleges a severe breach of censorship, endangering Netanyahu, his wife, and accompanying security officials, including the head of the Mossad. This follows reports that Netanyahu traveled to the UAE to seek a denial from President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan regarding a prior warning about the October 7th attack by Hamas. The Israeli premier previously denied receiving such a warning. Both Israel and the UAE have remained officially silent on the visit, though the Prime Minister’s office confirmed the security concerns relating to the leak while the plane was still outside of Israeli airspace. The visit occurred within the context of the Abraham Accords, which formally established diplomatic ties between Israel and the UAE in 2020.
