Former Ireland rugby international Derrick Williams has announced his retirement from the sport. The 35-year-old winger, who earned 25 caps for Ireland between 2013 and 2018, stated he felt “now is the right time to move on.” Williams enjoyed a successful career with Connacht, winning a Pro12 title with the province in 2016, and also played for Ulster and Scarlets. He was part of the Ireland squad for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. While his international career was impacted by injury, Williams remained a consistent performer at club level. He has not specified his future plans following his retirement.
