Irish drone delivery company Manna has announced it is ceasing operations in Ireland, attributing the decision to difficulties with the country’s planning regulations. The firm, founded by Bobby Healy and backed by nearly €100 million in funding, had been pioneering drone-based food and medicine delivery services. Manna stated it will now redirect its focus towards expansion in the United States, the United Kingdom, and other international markets where it perceives more favorable regulatory environments. The company specifically cited a lack of clear “pathways” for drone delivery approvals within Ireland as the primary obstacle. This move represents a setback for the development of drone technology within the Irish logistics sector. Manna will continue to operate in regions with more accommodating regulations, hoping to capitalize on the growing demand for rapid delivery services. The company did not specify a timeline for potential return to the Irish market.
