Over three thousand people from 139 countries were granted Irish citizenship in ceremonies held in Killarney today. Among those receiving citizenship was South African-born rugby player Jean Kleyn, who has represented Ireland internationally. The new citizens affirmed their commitment to Ireland, marking a significant milestone in their lives. The ceremonies reflect Ireland’s diverse and growing population. Minister for Integration Roderic O’Gorman presided over the events, welcoming the new Irish citizens. The applicants come from a wide range of backgrounds and have met the requirements for naturalization, including residency and knowledge of Irish culture and language. This intake represents one of the largest and most diverse groups to be naturalized in recent years.
