Initial talks between Iran and the United States in Switzerland have concluded with both sides agreeing on a timeline for reaching a final agreement within sixty days. Qatar and Pakistan, acting as mediators, announced the development early Sunday morning, aiming for a permanent end to ongoing conflict. The discussions, based on a memorandum of understanding signed last week, focused on technical details and are expected to continue through the end of the week. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi praised Pakistan and Qatar for their mediation efforts following the talks. He stated that “significant progress” was achieved during the first round of negotiations. The agreement signifies a potential breakthrough in efforts to de-escalate tensions between the two nations and resolve long-standing disputes. Further discussions will be crucial to solidify the progress made and finalize a comprehensive deal.
