Australia’s top intelligence official, Mike Burgess, revealed that a Sydney firebombing targeting a synagogue was orchestrated by an Iranian citizen and senior member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Burgess, Director-General of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), detailed the threat during his annual assessment. The Iranian operative, residing in Iran, is believed to have directed the attack. ASIO is also monitoring another Iranian group operating in Europe for potential future attacks or assassinations within Australia. This revelation highlights growing concerns about Iranian-backed hostile activity on Australian soil. Burgess emphasized the need for vigilance against foreign interference and extremism. The assessment signals an elevated security alert regarding potential Iranian state-sponsored violence.
