Iran and Russia are nearing completion of a system integrating their national payment networks, potentially within two months. This development will enable Iranian citizens to utilize their domestic bank cards for transactions within Russia. The move, announced by the Central Bank Governor of Iran, Abdolnaser Hemmati, signifies a further step towards reducing reliance on Western-dominated financial systems. The integration aims to facilitate trade and financial transactions between the two countries, circumventing international sanctions and restrictions. This initiative follows increased economic cooperation between Iran and Russia, particularly in the face of international pressure. Experts suggest this could be a precursor to broader financial collaboration and a challenge to the US dollar’s dominance. The finalized system will offer an alternative payment route for Iranian travelers and businesses operating in Russia.
