An international human rights delegation visited the regional office of Morocco’s Ombudsman institution in Laayoune on Tuesday. The visit focused on examining the Ombudsman's experience and operational mechanisms in mediation, fairness, and the protection of citizens’ rights. Led by Theresa MacDermott from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, the delegation was welcomed by the regional delegate, Charif Lعروسي. The purpose of the visit was to gain insight into how the institution handles complaints and ensures equitable resolutions for citizens. This visit highlights the importance of independent oversight in upholding human rights and good governance within Morocco. The delegation’s findings may contribute to best practices in mediation and ombudsman services internationally.
