The National Forum of Islamic Mass Organizations (Forkomnas) in Indonesia has called on the Indonesian government to utilize diplomatic channels to ensure the safety and rights of Indonesian female students in Azerbaijan. This follows regulations banning the hijab in Azerbaijani educational institutions. Forkomnas specifically urges Muslim female students in Azerbaijan to steadfastly maintain their hijab despite the restrictions. The organization believes the Indonesian government should actively protect its citizens’ religious freedoms abroad. Concerns exist regarding the potential for discrimination and harassment of students adhering to Islamic dress codes. This situation highlights the need for Indonesia to proactively engage with Azerbaijan on issues of religious freedom and student welfare. Forkomnas hopes diplomatic efforts will safeguard the rights of Indonesian students studying in Azerbaijan.
