Indonesian customs authorities have intercepted two separate shipments of illegally imported used clothing, known as “ballpress,” in Jakarta and West Kalimantan. The Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) secured 43 containers of the contraband at Tanjung Priok port in Jakarta. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi confirmed the seizures, indicating ongoing efforts to combat illegal imports. The import of used clothing is prohibited in Indonesia to protect the local textile industry. Authorities are investigating the origin and intended destination of the shipments. This discovery highlights continued challenges in preventing the entry of illegal goods into the country, despite enforcement measures. Further details regarding the value of the seized goods and potential legal action are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
