The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provincial government is prioritizing the digitization of thousands of ancient manuscripts to safeguard them from deterioration and loss. This initiative, led by the NTB Culture Office, aims to preserve the region’s cultural heritage and make these historical documents more accessible. The manuscripts, detailing various aspects of local history, literature, and traditional knowledge, are currently vulnerable to damage from age and environmental factors. Digitization efforts will involve scanning, cataloging, and archiving the texts. Authorities are collaborating with experts to ensure the process is conducted carefully and accurately. The project seeks to not only preserve the manuscripts for future generations but also to promote research and cultural understanding. Funding and resources are being allocated to expedite the digitization process across the province.
