Indonesia’s Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is actively urging all entrepreneurs to obtain a formal business identification number (NIB). This number is crucial for accessing a range of government facilitation programs designed to support MSME growth. The Ministry emphasizes that the NIB streamlines business processes and unlocks opportunities for funding, training, and market access. Currently, a significant number of MSMEs still operate without this essential identification. Officials report that obtaining an NIB is now simpler and faster through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system. The push aims to formalize the sector, improve data collection, and ensure equitable distribution of government assistance. The Ministry believes widespread NIB adoption will significantly boost the Indonesian economy.
