Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology is implementing a revised school orientation program, known as MPLS, beginning in 2026. The shift responds to growing public concern regarding bullying and student mental health. Traditionally focused on physical meetings, the new MPLS will emphasize creating an inclusive environment – a “melting point” – for new students. The aim is to eliminate hazing and foster a welcoming atmosphere. This represents a significant paradigm shift in how new students are introduced to the school environment. The Ministry hopes this approach will proactively address issues of bullying and promote positive mental wellbeing among students. The revised program seeks to transform orientation from a potentially intimidating experience into a supportive and inclusive one.
