The Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs has begun developing a standardized sign language glossary of Islamic theological and legal terminology. This initiative aims to improve religious accessibility for individuals with hearing and speech impairments. The project focuses on translating complex concepts from Fikih (Islamic jurisprudence) and Theology into sign language. This standardization effort intends to ensure consistent and accurate communication of religious teachings within the deaf community. Currently, there is no unified sign language vocabulary for these specific religious terms across Indonesia. The Ministry anticipates this glossary will facilitate greater inclusion and understanding of Islamic practices for people with disabilities. The development process involves collaboration with relevant experts and the deaf community to ensure accuracy and cultural sensitivity.
