Indonesia’s new gas processing plant in Tuban, East Java, officially began operations following an inauguration by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia. The facility is designed to process gas from the Madura Strait block and is expected to significantly reduce the country’s reliance on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) imports. Initial capacity is 450 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), with plans to increase to 550 MMSCFD. The plant will supply gas to industries and households in East Java and surrounding areas. Officials state the project supports Indonesia’s energy independence goals and strengthens national energy security. The facility represents a substantial investment in domestic gas infrastructure and aims to lower energy costs for consumers.
