Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas company, Pertamina, through its subsidiary Pertamina Patra Niaga, is prepared to implement a nationwide rollout of B50 biodiesel – a blend containing 50% biodiesel and 50% fossil diesel – starting July 1st. This marks a significant increase from the current B35 blend. The company asserts readiness in terms of supply chain, distribution infrastructure, and product quality. The move aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and lower carbon emissions, supporting Indonesia’s commitment to renewable energy targets. Pertamina has been conducting trials and assessments to ensure compatibility with existing engines and infrastructure. The implementation will be monitored closely to assess its impact on performance and potential adjustments. This policy shift is part of a broader government initiative to promote sustainable energy practices within the transportation sector.
