India’s passport services have experienced a six-fold increase in network capacity over the past decade, according to a Ministry of External Affairs official. Celebrated on Passport Seva Divas, the expansion aims to improve accessibility for citizens. Over 500 Passport Kendras are now operational across the country, facilitating a significant rise in service delivery. In 2025 alone, the network is projected to deliver 1.5 crore (15 million) passport-related services. This growth reflects the government’s commitment to streamlining the passport application and issuance process. The expansion focuses on enhancing convenience and reducing processing times for applicants nationwide, marking a substantial improvement in consular services.
