India’s National Testing Agency (NTA) is implementing stringent security measures for today’s re-test of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), a crucial exam for medical school admissions. These measures follow widespread allegations of irregularities and cheating in the initial exam, prompting demands for a fair re-evaluation. Security protocols include the deployment of AI-powered surveillance systems to monitor candidates and the use of signal jammers to prevent external assistance. The NTA aims to ensure the integrity of the re-test and address concerns regarding the previous exam’s validity. Over 44,000 candidates are expected to participate in the re-test, which is being held in multiple cities across the country. The Supreme Court of India has been overseeing the process, directing the NTA to ensure a fair and transparent examination. The outcome of the re-test is critical for thousands of aspiring medical students.
