Malaysian authorities detained five individuals – four men and one woman – following a raid on an illegal sawmill near Kampung Sungai Bayu in Gua Musang. The operation, conducted by the General Operations Force (GOF), uncovered evidence suggesting the sawmill had been operating illicitly for approximately one month. During the raid, police seized assets totaling RM1.69 million (approximately $370,000 USD). The detainees are currently being investigated for their involvement in illegal logging activities. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the specific types of wood processed at the sawmill or the intended destination of the timber. This bust represents an effort to combat illegal deforestation and timber trading in the region.
