Illegal mining activities continue to plague the Río Puré Natural National Park. Reports indicate that approximately 41 rafts are currently active within the protected area. These operations are dedicated to the illicit extraction of gold. It is estimated that 120 kilograms of gold are being extracted from the region every month. This activity poses a severe threat to the local ecosystem and biodiversity. Environmental organizations, including FZS, have highlighted the persistence of these operations. The situation underscores the ongoing challenges in patrolling and protecting Colombia's natural reserves.
