Hungary’s attempt to host MotoGP races has ended in failure following substantial government investment. A track in Balatonfőkajár was developed with the aim of attracting major motorsport events, including MotoGP, but these plans have collapsed. Approximately 10 billion Forints (significant sum) was spent on the venture, now deemed unsuccessful. Consequently, Hungary will not host a MotoGP race next year. The state-owned company responsible for the project is now being liquidated, marking a significant financial loss for the government. The ambitious project ultimately failed to deliver the anticipated returns, raising questions about the allocation of public funds to motorsport.
