Hungarian minority party UDMR has not yet decided whether to support the nomination of Adrian Veștea as Romania’s next Prime Minister following a meeting on the matter. Senator Lorand Turos stated the UDMR will not participate in any effort to dismantle the National Liberal Party (PNL). The party is awaiting further clarification regarding the intent behind Veștea’s nomination. UDMR leadership discussed the situation extensively before making the announcement, emphasizing their reluctance to contribute to political instability. The decision hinges on whether the proposed government represents a genuine attempt at governance or a strategic move against the PNL. This position gives UDMR significant leverage in ongoing coalition negotiations. Further discussions are expected as Romania seeks to establish a new governing majority.
