The Hracholusky Reservoir in the Czech Republic is experiencing its lowest water level in its sixty-year history, as of October. This dramatic decrease has revealed the foundations of homes from a village previously submerged by the reservoir, as well as remnants of a bridge and military bunkers. The low water levels forced the local navigation company to end its season prematurely at the end of August. Water management authorities have reduced the outflow from the reservoir, but it continues to dry up. The situation highlights the severe impact of ongoing drought conditions on water resources in the region. The exposed structures offer a rare glimpse into the area’s past, but also underscore the urgency of addressing the declining water levels at Hracholusky.
