Police in Dhaka’s Mirpur district have arrested four individuals accused of extorting $5,000 from a travel agency owner using a honey trap. The suspects, identified as Sohana (35), Sumon (40), Sabbir Ahmed (35), and a minor, allegedly captured compromising photos and videos of the victim. They then used this material to demand a ransom of 500,000 taka (approximately $5,000). The arrests took place late Wednesday night from their residences in the Ahmednagar area of Mirpur. Mirpur Model Police Station officials confirmed the operation, indicating further investigation is underway. This case highlights the growing threat of honey trap schemes targeting individuals in the capital. Authorities are urging potential victims to report such incidents immediately.
