A historic building with Renaissance features, home to the Postal Museum and a hidden art collection, has been saved from demolition or major reconstruction. Located in Prague’s Petřská quarter, the building, known as Vávra’s Mill, will now be managed by the National Technical Museum (NTM) as its sixth museum. The NTM is taking over an exhibition that has been sought for over a century. The mill houses a unique artistic treasure called “Zimmerreise,” consisting of wall paintings created by 19th-century artist Josef Navrátil. These salon-style murals represent a significant cultural find. The preservation of the building ensures the public will have access to both the postal history exhibits and the remarkable artwork.
