Northern Kyushu is experiencing heavy rainfall due to the influence of a seasonal rain front and a low-pressure system. Linear rainbands have repeatedly formed since early July 2nd, leading to river overflows in Kumamoto Prefecture. A Level 4 landslide warning – the highest level – has been issued for Oita Prefecture, indicating extreme danger. The Japan Meteorological Agency is urgently warning residents to be highly vigilant against landslides, river flooding, and inundation of low-lying areas. The situation remains critical as these weather systems continue to impact the region. Authorities are monitoring conditions closely and preparing for potential evacuation orders. Residents are advised to heed all warnings and take necessary precautions.
