The “Vision 97” Award of the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation will not be presented beyond this year, announced Dagmar Havlová at a ceremony on Monday. She cited the foundation’s assumption of organizing the Václav Havel Human Rights Prize, previously managed by the now-renamed Václav Havel Library, as a contributing factor to the decision. The final recipient of the foundation’s award is Václav Havel himself, honored posthumously to commemorate what would have been his 90th birthday. The announcement marks the end of an era for the “Vision 97” prize, recognized for its support of individuals embodying the values of the former president. This concludes the foundation’s independent award initiative as focus shifts to the Václav Havel Human Rights Prize. The event acknowledged Havel’s enduring legacy and commitment to human rights. The ceremony served as both a celebration and a farewell to the "Vision 97" award.
