Pakistan's finance minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, stated the nation has so far managed to mitigate the impact of escalating energy prices linked to the Iran war. Speaking to AFP during the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Aurangzeb expressed concern over recent attacks on energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. He indicated these attacks pose a “worrying” threat to Pakistan’s long-term economic stability. The country currently has sufficient energy supplies secured until November and is actively planning for increased winter demand. Aurangzeb emphasized the need to proactively address potential disruptions to maintain economic resilience. The situation highlights Pakistan’s vulnerability to regional geopolitical instability and its reliance on stable energy supplies from the Gulf.
