A Guatemalan librarian with over 40 years of experience is actively promoting reading amongst the country’s population. Driven by a personal passion for books and a long-term subscription habit, she hopes to cultivate a greater interest in literature nationwide. The initiative, titled “Yo cuento” (I tell/narrate), aims to foster a reading culture. The librarian believes increased access to and engagement with books is crucial for individual and societal development. Her efforts represent a sustained, individual commitment to literacy in Guatemala. She expresses a desire for more Guatemalans to embrace reading as a regular practice.
