A new grocery basket comparison in Finland has pinpointed the most affordable place to shop, sparking interest from experts. The comparison, conducted by Iltalehti, differs from previous methods by focusing on consistent product choices—including Juhla Mokka coffee, toilet paper, and vegetables—rather than solely the cheapest available option. The study included Prisma, Lidl, and K-citymarket supermarkets. Previously, comparisons focused on the lowest price per product, adjusted for package size. This new approach uses largely identical products across stores, providing a clearer picture of overall cost. The results demonstrate intense price competition between supermarket chains in Finland, where even small differences matter to consumers. This new method shows where shoppers can truly find the best value.
