A team of students from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has achieved a historic feat by successfully testing Greece’s first liquid-propellant rocket engine. The Aristotle Space and Aeronautics Team (ASAT), comprised of mechanical engineering students, designed and built the engine independently. This successful test represents a significant advancement for Greece’s developing aerospace industry and demonstrates the potential for indigenous space technology. The engine was tested and functioned as designed, marking a key milestone for the student-led project. ASAT operates as part of the university’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, providing a practical learning environment for aspiring aerospace engineers. The achievement positions Greece to potentially play a larger role in European space exploration and development. Further testing and development are planned following this initial success.
